7 Tips that Will Make Your Skin Glow and Prevent Your Makeup From Causing Acne

If you avoid wearing makeup, because you find yourself breaking out every time you apply it, then you’re not using the right products for your skin. Or you’re using conventional chemically-laden cosmetics that contain ingredients that will irritate or aggravate your skin, especially if it’s sensitive or oily.

While many of us don’t wear a full face of makeup every day, there are bound to be occasions when you want to glam it up, but without the pesky breakouts.

In this article, we’ve put together a few handy tips when purchasing, as well as when applying your makeup so you always have a healthy skin, and never have to deal with breakouts from makeup ever again!

1. Check the Label

This is the most important step when purchasing any cosmetic product. By reading the label, you’ll know exactly what’s in your product. Be sure to read the ingredient list, and if you see ingredients you cannot pronounce or have never heard of before, think again, before making the purchase, as your skin and health is on the line.

Look for products that are free from chemicals, nano particles, parabens, Bismuth Oxychloride, talc, synthetic dyes, fillers, fragrance and preservatives. And to give you peace of mind, all of our products are free from these nasty ingredients.

2. Opt for Real Ingredients

The best thing you can do for your skin (and your health!) is to use products free from synthetic chemicals and instead use natural products filled with organic, nutrient rich ingredients.

You may think only skin care products can contain antioxidants and nutrients, that is, until you see the ingredients in our all USDA organic certified face powders! In addition, our entire makeup line, has a USDA organic base, and is chemically free, and truly safe for the most sensitive skin.

3. Prep your Skin Properly before Application

Always be sure to apply an oil, face serum, or face cream to your skin, suited to your skin type, before applying your makeup. This helps to form a good base for your makeup to adhere to, as well as to keep nutrients IN and pollutants OUT. Please ensure the moisturizer you use is fully absorbed into the skin before applying our products. Also, fun fact, we are currently working on a face serum as well as a face cream recipe, so stay tuned for more updates to come on that later this year.

4. Don’t Touch your Face

Sometimes your breakouts are due to constantly touching your face throughout the day. This may seem like a very self-evident cause of skin breakouts, however, we still wanted to mention it. Our hands come into contact with many different surfaces and pick up bacteria along the way. When you are touching your face, or picking that annoying pimple, you’re simply transferring this bacteria onto your skin, clogging your pores further and creating the ideal conditions for more breakouts. It it best to be as mindful as possible about touching your face, and as always be sure to keep your hands clean.

5. Clean before you Sweat

Before hitting the gym, be sure to cleanse your skin as your pores open when you sweat and your makeup can then sink into your pores and clog them. If you do have to go to the gym after work and don’t have time for a full facial cleanse, then just be sure to wash your face properly afterwards and follow up with your facial oil, serum or moisturizer. If possible, choose a makeup free look when going to work out.

In addition, working out regularly, should give you a natural glow and help your skin flare ups, so keep at it, way to go friend.

6. Follow a Healthy Diet

From personal experience, ever since I shifted my diet to more organic fruits and vegetables as well as cut out all meat, fish, and dairy products, my skin started to rejuvenate. Additionally, I felt like I was experiencing less headaches and my overall health became better. I know cutting out meat and dairy may seem like an impossible task for many, but I encourage you to give it a try and see how you feel. If you are interested in my meat/dairy free recipes, let me know and I would be happy to write a blog post about that soon. Also, if you cut out meat and dairy, do share your experiences with me, would love to hear how it went for you.

7. Try a Facial Massage

You may prefer leaving the facial massage for your next facial, but why not treat yourself (and your skin) to some extra love every day? You don't need loads of time or fancy equipment for this, just a clean face, your hands, a little facial oil and just 5 minutes!

Try this at night when you've cleansed your skin and you're winding down for the night. The Body Butter oils alone act as a wonderful moisturizer/serum, and you will wake up with a glow in the morning, and a nice soft skin.

To massage your face, apply a Organic Face Oil or Organic Body Whip to your fingers and use your index and middle fingers starting from the inside and working your way out. You'll move your fingers in gentle, circular motions and you'll always pull the skin up, never down, as you want to prevent sagging.

A regular facial massage will help to boost blood circulation for that instant glow, but over time, it will help to promote the formation of collagen to ensure your skin stays youthful and plump!

Follow these tips for a glowing skin and fuss free makeup application without the acne!
